"Well Cath, it occurs to me that we might very well meet some of the Metal Mage's constructs in Undermountain. I wanted to run an idea past you that may help in dealing with them."
He waited for a nod or other gesture that he should continue, "There is a substance, I am not sure if you are familiar with it or not, it's called acid. It is employed in various alchemical processes as well as some decorative work in etching metalworks. It's useful property, for our purposes, is that, if it is sufficiently concentrated, it will significantly degrade the strength of metals. I had thought to find an alchemist, purchase some quantity of acid, in some glass or ceramic jars, along with a few long, stout poles. The jars will have a loop of rope, or perhaps leather to attach them to the poles. This will allow us to swing them at such constructs of the Metal Mage and perhaps afford us some advantage in defeating them..."
He paused for breath and to allow a cart to careen past them before continuing, "The poles are essential for a number of reasons. As well as it's properties in degrading metals, acid will severely burn flesh, as well as the effect on our warrior's armours should a stray splash come into contact with, say a breastplate or shield..."

Cathmhaol glanced at the young mage, a troubled look on his face. "Acid, ye say? Aye, I think I've heard o' it. Sounds dangerous though." He thought about it a moment. "If'n ye reckon it'll gi' us the edge w' need, then I don't see as how we've much choice."

"I think it just might at that, Cath," the young sorceror answered. "Now where do you reckon is the best place to look for an alchemist in this town?"

OOC- Im going to roll the adventure forward till the next morning, come Friday/Weekend. Ill give everyone till then to work out treasure/party order and other stuff (though to be fair its pretty much done)
Ill say now that Steffan has given you a lot of clues, so heed them.... You will also find clues for other rooms, scattered around Undermountain.
Milo is also the best person to ask for the alchemist . He is bound to know one in the City of Splendours.
Tom you have a PM. Beau you have one too.

Looking abashed as the rest of teh party heads off, Rumbleskin says to their retreating backs: "Now this be mighty embarrassing, but kin anyone stand me some gold? It's on account a' me bein' suspended above a pool o' water fer the last three cen'uries y'see... What coins I had have been spent an' I need some funds t'pay fer me trail rations an' a whetstone an' such..."
It was clear from the Dwarf's demeanour that this was an excrutiating confession for him to make - after all, Dwarves were known for their propensity to hoard gold, weren't they?!
Rumbleskin's voice almost trailed away to nothing as he finished: "I'll earn it back for ye..."

Looking over at Cathmhaol, Dace raised an eyebrow. "I'm sure we could come up wtih something..?" he said. If nothing else Dace would offer to put some money in.

OOC: I'm happy to move on if everyone else is...

Milo, hearing Zeric's question to Cathmhaol as he was leaving, turns and offers "Well the best alchemist to deal with is Cadwyn but he's gone to Daggerford for his daughters wedding. His apprentice Gilles is minding the shop but they say he's still got a lot to learn. Wilton has a reasonable shop as well if you want something quickly. Of course if you don't mind dealing with a gnome then you could always deal with Tamoinen but he's a Jarnak and not everybody gets on with them."
"Melf's Acid Arrow is always an effacious way of dealing with enemies but the elven mage Venye always swore by Shatter so I studied both."

"Quite," said Zeric to the halfling magic user.
"Rumbleskin," he said, reaching into his purse. "Should have thought of it sooner. Sorry..."
He handed the dwarf a handful of gold coins, leaning forward and whispering to him.
OOC: PMs on the way...

I have a few things to take into the Halls. They are in my room Im well prepared. I think!" his face smiled and scowled as it looked like he was thinking. The priest, Xand, chuckled at Garri's comments. The first time the group had seen the young lady smile or betray any emotion.

"Ye may have th' right o' that young 'un. I tend to be a 'what you see is what you get' type o' Dwarf. Jus' so long as I got some mead or some spirits in me skin, some food in me pack an' me axe at my side, I'm all good."
