Zeric pursed his lips on hearing Dace's answer, wracking his brain for... something, a legend or scrap of information, "Hmmm, hatred of cold steel, eh? Not much, but I remember reading something, somewhere. Perhaps I was a child at the time, perhaps it was a folk tale... No matter. There is a legend, perhaps not of Faerunian origin. It tells of a race of creatures, the Fae, or Sidhe. Immortal and inscrutable. One of their few weaknesses is iron. I suppose steel, being an alloy with a significant Iron content would be feared, since it can harm them... It is said that the sidhe endeavoured to keep the knowledge pertaining to the working of metals form mankind, in order to hold dominion over the younger race... But then, this may only be a fairy tale and not at all relevant to our current situation."

Zeric suddenly held up a hand, "Of course! Those creatures are Shadows. As such, they are deathly afraid of light, since it robs them of their substance and therefore their power. They cannot pass through solid matter. Dace is correct in his hypothesis that iron and steel will harm them, so we have no need for magical armament. We have but to do one of two things; slay them, or hold them up until dawn's light slays them for us..."

Zeric thought for a moment, then answered Cathmhaol's query, "Daylight would be best, but firelight will probably cause them some discomfort. Basically, the brighter the light, the better. I'd suggest lighting all out lanterns in one room and possibly seeing if this place has any mirrors that might intensify the light, or reflect it to minimise the shadows in this room. We need only to hold them off till dawn. I have the very spell..."

Zeric nodded in approval at Dace's reaction to his statement. He then addressed the group, "There is something you should all be aware of... Since I have not had the opportunity to enjoy a complete rest, my ability to draw upon The Weave is severely depleted. I can provide... um, say two hours of light once I cast the shape the magic to my ends. No more; and only if I remain unharmed - no sorceror, no extra light..."
OOC: All I have are 4 x 0-level spells... The "Light" spell lasts 10 minutes per level... so, that's a total of two hours with which to hold these buggers off. After that, I'm afraid Zeric will be as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike.
Sorry to get all metagame on you guys, but that's how it stands, I'm afraid...

OOC- the next update will be a rather large one (oooo-eeeerr), Ive also got a lot on at work, so it may be a couple of days until I can do a proper update. Sorry for the delay!
Ill encompass all the actions so far. If anyone has any more updates stick them in!

OOC: I'm about to be offline for a couple of weeks. Got a couple of days away, then going on leave until early/mid June. So it doesn't hold things up, I'm more than happy for someone to play my character.
