" Malarites? They may have been merely honoring their God by the slayings or by spreading lycanthropy. However, this is not my area of expertise," the sorceror replied "This is my problem Zeric, Malarites would be happy taking the odd Guard, the odd Caravan or the odd Logger. Up to fifty or so a year, but not a concerted campaign. Certainly not enough to stop trade between Baldur's Gate and Waterdeep, which is invariably what they are doing. So who is behind it? Who is the controlling hand?" she paused before continuing " The big question after who is why? Why disrupt trade? The large Cities would eventually send experienced soldiers or adventurers, it cant be a long term strategy, so what is the final goal? Why?" She spoke passionately raising her voice louder at the final word. Returning to her normal voice she spoke again " Im sorry, my team are missing and I have no idea, why."

" Malarites? They may have been merely honoring their God by the slayings or by spreading lycanthropy. However, this is not my area of expertise," the sorceror replied He turned to his companions, " Dace, were the killings more bloody and long than usual? Vane? What know you of the followers of Malar and their ways?" Dace puffed his cheeks and arched his eyebrows as he exhaled. "Hard to say, I mean I've seen bandit attacks before, but the bandits haven't worn furs or been accompanied by dogs." He shrugged and continued to listen in, interested in the turn of conversation. "I agree it doesn't sound like the Zhentarim, but I also don't think it sounds much like the Iron Throne. I know next to nothing about Malar."

OOC- a superb bit of role playing all round. Cath trying to impatiently get a move on, Zeric trying to cover every angle, Dace, being Dace (more will be revealed as time moves on but that was perfect) and Vane whinging. All have a korma!

"Aye well, there's no need t' get carried away," muttered Cathmhaol. He cleared his voice loudly to attract everyone's attention, "Right - enough hangin' around! We're not gonna find out anythin' more here. You two..." he pointed to Vane and Dace, "...g'an fetch the horses. There's one way t' find out who's a'hind this..." and he grinned as he patted his longsword against his mailed fist.

Dace smiled, glad to be moving and doing something, and, wolfing down the remainder of his breakfast, stood and followed the priest from the inn.
Checking over his and his companion's horse quickly - he was no smith nor farrier but was used to being around horses so knew to check for loose shoes and nails - he followed Vane with the others and headed back to make ready.

Vane followed the caravan guard out of the Inn and into the stables. Watching him look at the horses, Vane quickly followed his lead and checked the horses. Leading two of the horses out of the stables, he walked them to the outside of the Inn and tied them to the posts outside.
Turning to Dace, he proclaims "Ready?" before disappearing off to get the others.

Zeric shrugged, pulled from the invigorating discussion by Cathmhaol's brash interjection, " Aye well, 'tis as you say, Cathmhaol. We can stand around discussing this all day, but 't'will get us no closer to an answer. We must look into the matter in order to find the answers we seek. Let us be about finding out, eh?"

Vane walked into the inn, looking at the two men and the elf maiden, he spoke.
"The horses and Dace are outside ready. So were good to go! Everyone got a silver weapon?"

"Ah, no," Zeric replied with a speculative glance at Nimen, "Unfortunately, the blacksmith in the last town could not manufacture those weapons. Perhaps there is a merchant or craftsman here who may have some? Shall we take an hour to investigate?"

"No need actually," Commented Nimen, walking over to her horse she reached into her saddle bags pulling out four silver daggers.
"My original group and I were already kitted out so to speak. These were our backup weapons, one for each of you." She handed each of you a dagger in turn. The dagger itself is perfectly balanced for fighting, but looks like it could be chipped easily in a fight. Silver being softer than steel.
When handing Zeric's his, she smiles saying "You mage would be better to stay out the fight as much as is possible and use your spells. Id doubt you'd last five seconds in combat with a full werewolf."
Looking at you all looking at the daggers, smiling "All of Cromm's Daggers, now have daggers. Isn't that Corellon's will?"

Vane's eyes opened wide at the dagger "Tis a fine gift, Elfmaiden. My thanks, for this. But my Hammer is silvered, in case of vampires and other such creatures. " with this he bowed.

I'll keep my distance and cast spells from afar, if you don;t mind... Thank you for the dagger, mind - definitely a weapon of last resort."

"Aye, very nice," mutters Cathmhaol as he exhamines the blade critically. He catches Nimen's withering look, and clears his throat, "I'm err... most grateful" he says as he tucks the blade in his boot, adjusting the bindings so it won't come loose.
"Right then," he says standing up, "Get yer arses in gear! We've spent enough time here!" He beckons Dace to bring his horse and swiftly mounts up. "Let's go!" he shouts and urges his horse forward at a trot.
