Date : Ches the 6th, Year of the the Rogue Dragons (1373 D.R.) Location : Crom's Hold, the Daggers House Time : Early Morning Weather: Clear and cold with a few clouds in the sky
The morning arrives with the crowing of cockerels and the still air of the early morning penetrates the walls of the house. The quietness of the abode is broken by the Night Watch coming in through the front door. As they arrive they are greeted by the Day Watch leaving. Last nights watch are Garri and Kirdan, who are replaced by Myr and Perrin.
"Nothing to report, Perrin. The night was very quiet, but there's still no sign of any of the merchants that the baroness had us look out for. A few strange noises and lights from the direction of the swamp. But nothing more unusual, than anything we've seen before." declared the young thief to the Halfling.
"Aye! OK. We will be back at 2pm for the Dusk Watch to take over." Replied the odd looking halfling.
Smells of cooking food, permeate the rooms. The Baroness's cook, preparing eggs, bacon and porridge for those awake or awakening.
OOC- Sorry its late, but better late than never!

OOC: Wahay! We're back in business! "Y' noisy bastards!" grumbled Cathmhaol, coming down the stairs. "I was fast asleep til ye started stompin' around!"He sat down at the table and pulled a bowl of porridge towards him. He picked up a chunk of bacon and with a sharp knife proceeded to chop bits into the bowl. He stirred it with a spoon and started to eat. Signalling to the cook to fill his tankard with ale, he said, "What say w' go find out wha' happened to them merchants, eh?"

"Nothin' not a sausage. We havent seen hide nor hair of the merchants an' the baroness is starting to get a bit antsy about it." replied Garri as he gulped down some porridge. "By Mask, Im starvin' "

Zeric joined the others at the table after requesting a cup of hot milk from the cook, "What is this I hear about merchants? Have they gotten themselves lost in the late snows of The North?"
He looked around while waiting for their answer, "Where's that oaf of a brother of mine? Have you seen Throgbur? I swear if he's at the whorehouse again, I'll have him scrubbing his bollocks for months with a wire brush!"
Zeric sipped at the milk and nibbled delicately at a slice of bread.

"Aye well, we can't be sittin' around here on our arses, so we'll go take a look f' these merchants," said Cathmhaol between mouthfuls of food.
"Garri, get yersel' over t' the stable an' saddle up some horses," he continued, waving away the young thief's protests about a lack of breakfast.
"Zeric, who've we got available t' take wi' us?"

Zeric frowned for a moment as he recalled the rosters carefully drawn up by himself and Cathmhaol, "Well, excepting those who have patrol or guard duty, there's you, Garri here, myself and Vane, Myr and Irongut. Oh, and Throgbur should be around, too..."

Cathmhaol looked at the young thief. "Ye've been up all night lad. Might be best if'n ye get some rest. We'll just ha' t' manage wi'out ye!"
"Zeric, get the lads t'gether. We're leaving in half an hour. They'll need provisions f' the rest o' the day as I don't think we'll be back this side o' nightfall".

Zeric answered with a semi-mocking bow of his head, "Yes Captain, my Captain, I'll see to it."
He left the table and the dining hall, seeking out those he'd named. He encountered Vane first, "Well Met, Stinky. Gather your gear and provisions for the day, the boss is taking us out on an excursion. We'll be leaving in half an hour. Tell Myr and Irongut, too. Oh, and if you see that shiftless half-brother of mine, give him a good hard kick up the arse from me and tell him to get his worthless hide to me ASAP. "
Zeric wrinkled his nose at the stench from the 'Holy Man', "Oh and Vane? Before you report to Cathmaol can you do something about improving your stench? Like rolling in a midden, or something?"

"Ill try but the smell helps me against the foul undead." replied the undead hunter scratching. " You do realise that Throg and Myr are on duty next, if your going for an extended trip, then taking them may be folly?" he continued. "Anyway the Baroness sent a message, she wants Cath to meet her outside in an hour. He said pack for a few days, I wonder what thats all about. Eh?"

"Damnation!! Zeric cursed, "An' I suppose I get the pleasure of informing our glorious leader that he won't be getting his own way after all..."
"Ok, Vane get your stuff ready as per Her Ladyship's orders and forget Myr and Throgbur... be ready in less than an hour, though, or her ladyship will insist you bathe - with soap and everything.
Zeric headed off, back to Cathmhaol and delivered the news, "Leastways, that's what Vane said, Boss."

"Oh, f' fuck's sake!" exploded Cathmhaol, "What does she want now?!"
He sighed heavily, "Come on, w' better go an' find out." He stood up, and headed for the door to find the Duchess.

Date : Ches the 6th, Year of the the Rogue Dragons (1373 D.R.) Location : Crom's Hold, Outside the Daggers House. On the crossroads Time : Early Morning Weather: Clear and cold with a few clouds in the sky
Before you is the Baroness, standing tall, straight and regal on the crossroads before your accommodation. Behind her stands a stable boy of about twelve years old holding in his hands the reigns of three horses.
"Good morning Captain, Sorcerer. I need you to do some investigation for the next few days, we seem to be missing a number of merchants. They aren't coming to the Hold. I'd like you to find out why.
We got word yesterday that one of our more regular merchants has been held up at the Way Inn. He has had some caravan trouble after an attack by brigands south of the Inn. Id like you to go to the Way Inn, as a sort of advance scouting party and bring him here. It will take you about four days to get to the Way Inn. Ive included enough rations in the saddle bags for about 10 days. Id like the two of you to go and really you can only spare one other, due to the guard rotations. Id set off immediately if I were you if you want to get to Liam's Hold by nightfall." she smiled sirenly

Zeric nodded, "Yes, Milady. We were in the process of organising a search party for the merchants. However, your excellent intelligence and direction will no doubt speed the process no end."
He turned to Cathmhaol, "Boss, I suggest taking Vane with us, his cloud of stench should act like a repellent even to the creatures of the evil Gods. Mere bandits would stand little chance agin such a reek."

"Aye, milady, we'll see t' it," said Cathmhaol.
He watched as the Baroness made her way into town. "Ye don't think this is some sort o' plot t' get us out o' the way, d' ye?" He shook his head. "Gi' Vane a shout. I doubt he's had time t' wash so tell him he's ridin' downwind o' us!"
