Zeric scanned the assembled patrons, looking for someone eager to share information, perhaps over a drink.

"Well not really, came in 2 nights ago. Late, after 10. Walked straight in, no horse, but was well armed. Calls herself Nimen" Replied the young barmaid. "Nimen, eh?" He admired the ample charms of the barmaid in front of him, "But ner'mind her, what's yer name?" he smiled lecherously.

"Bessinda, but everyone calls me Bessie." She smiled sweetly, then her face turned sour and she hurriedly continued. "My elder sister runs this place with Binn, she just spotted me. Best be off, call me if you need a drink or anything"

"Aye, lassie. We'll speak later," Cathmhaol called after the fleeing waitress and he settled down to watch the girl opposite.

The young woman ordered another drink, some wine. Paid for it from a purple velvet bag she brought out from beneath her cloak. You never see anything else under the cloak, which you notice is held together by a small silver brooch in the shape of a harp. In about 10 minutes she asks the barman the time, looks around anxiously and decides to take a walk outside. As she stands you notice the glint of at least one weapon under her cloak. But no more.
OOC- Im assuming you are doing nothing else except watching the woman. Tom you can do something different if you want, as per our PM

She disappears for about 10 minutes or so then returns, looking slightly more anxious. Again she doesnt speak to anyone but the bar staff and keeps her eye on the door, watching and waiting.

Zeric drained his wineglass, then nodded to Cathmhaol, "I'm just going out to check on the horses, Cath."
He exited the inn and headed for the stables, where he encountered the stable boy, "Well Met lad. How are our mounts settled in?"
He listened to the lads reply, then asked, "You'd be the one to talk to about traffic on the road through these part, I'll wager. Have you heard any interesting rumours about merchant traffic?"
He reached into his purse and began passing a silver coin along his knuckles...

"Horses are fine. Aye. Theres been a number of reports of missing caravans and traders along the Trade Way. That yon elven woman, she's meant to be meeting mates o' hers. But they haven't arrived yet. They are now a day or so late she keeps coming and asking about five travelers on horses. Only new folks round here are you. I told her that this evening. Still she keeps coming out to bother us." Replied the eldest of the boys.
"They say theres some bandits around here, but no one ever finds survivors. They completely disappear and no one ever knows why. Though some people are convinced its the full moon? Pah! What do they know, eh?"

Zeric nodded his thanks, "I'm obliged to you, lad. Here, share this among you!"
He tossed the silver piece to the stable boys and headed back inside to see Cathmhaol, where he related the stableboy's information, "So I reckon, Cath, that we should have a word or two with that elven woman over there - share our tales, as it were... an extra sword arm 'gainst thon bandits'll ne'er go amiss. What say you, Boss?"

"Aye, sounds like a plan," said Cathmhaol. He stood up, picked up his ale and ambled across to the table where the young girl sat.
He plonked himself down next to Nimen and smiled winningly. "Evenin' lass, I understand we may have some business in common!"

"Really? I suspect I have nothing to say to you two ruffians. Now if you please, I'm awaiting some friends of mine, they should be arriving any moment." said the young woman haughtily

"Really? I suspect I have nothing to say to you two ruffians. Now if you please, I'm awaiting some friends of mine, they should be arriving any moment." said the young woman haughtily Zeric shrugged, " Then you'll not be interested in seeking out the bandits that have probably waylaid both the merchants headed for Cromm's Hold and, most likely, you're friends as well? They are overdue, are they not? Judging by your jumping every time the door opens and checking outside to see if they're coming, I'll wager I'm right... Of course, that is to say nothing of the despoiling the bandits may be incurring on the countryside hereabouts..." He waited for a reply, then continued regardless, " I am Zeric and my rough companion here is Cathmhaol of the Cromm's Daggers, out of Cromm's Hold. "

"Binn" the woman asks the barman "Who are these men? Didnt they come in with that smelly Priest of Kelemvor?"
"Yes they did. Hes an odd one that Vane, but a good man, if you ask me . He's just a bit odd" The barman made a circling motion around his temple. " If you know what I mean."
Nodding his head in Cathmhaols and Zeric's direction he says "The Baroness of Cromm's Hold vouches for them, allegedly they stopped a lizard man attack on the Hold. Word from Daggerford is that they were militia men, but decided to go it alone. Developing something of a reputation, I hear. First the Lizard men then some Red Wizards as I hear it. Maybe they'll find Liam's Treasure, eh? " He chortled to the female
The woman smiled serenely at the joke. It was the first time any emotion had appeared on her face. "People have been searching this place for many winters, they still haven't found anything. You know its a myth" she replied.
The barman smiled back at her and rolled his eyes, walking off muttering "So you say, so you say." She turned to Zeric and Cathmhaol. "Hmmmm... Zeric you say? Aren't you the perceptive one. A man with a keen mind is difficult to find in these times." again she smiles, motioning for you to sit beside her, when you do so. She whispers quietly.
"My story is simple. My band and I were following a small raiding party of the Cult of the Black Wolf. I left the band some miles to the south, as I came here to leave a message for our employers. The rest were to track the Cult to their base of operations, which I suspect is nearby. Then return forthwith." her smile disapears into a frown.
" I can only assume that they are now either killed or captured. So Zeric what do you and your freinds say?"
