Zeric bent over the girl's hand, planting a kiss upon its back, "I am most charmed to make your acquaintance, Maylene."
He then turned his attention to Dace's enquiry as to Delora's intentions, "I am afraid, Dace, that we shall have to do without the company of yon lass. She has decided to concentrate her efforts to rebuilding that of her father's business as she can... "

Cathmhaol raised an eyebrow at Zeric's effusive welcome said nothing for fear of shattering the young wizard's rare good mood.
He raised a hand in greeting to Maylene. "Nice t' meet ye, lassie,' he said before picking up his drink and taking a healthy draft.
He wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. "So fellows, are we ready t' move on?"

Dace nodded. "Oh, while I remember, Maylene is also heading for Waterdeep. There shouldn't be a problem with her attaching herself to us for the trip, should there?"

Rumbleskin nodded to Maylene and responded: "Well, she seems to brighten yer mood Dace lad, so that cannae be a bad thing. 'Twould be a shame t' seperate th' company eh?" Realising that he may have caused more confusion rather than actually answering the question, Rumbleskin added: "That be Dwarvish for aye, Maylene be welcome fro' my point o' view".

Zeric's eyes narrowed, "Forgive my suspicious nature, Maylene and Dace... but you can personally vouch for her... 'reliability', can you?"
He was careful to avoid the use of the word trustworthiness, settling instead upon a more neutral term.

"As much as I can for you, magician." Dace said simply.

Zeric nodded, a strange little smile playing across his lips, "Touché!"
"It seems we have an honest and astute 'caravan guard' in our Dace here, Cath!" Zeric remarked playfully.
He sat down, accepting the cup of mulled wine placed before him, "It is a great shame you did not accompany us to Lord Nasher's keep, my friends. He is a most gracious host, and his table is a marvel to behold, let alone feast upon. We may depart, Cath, 'pon the tide following the remedy for the malady which afflicts me and is currently under preparation by the good priests of Helm. I am assured by Lord Myrmidion, that it shall be ready in the morning."
He related the rest of the tale of his experiences at the castle, including the items which Cathmhaol, Eneval and himself had been gifted with by Lord Nasher himself.*
He then told the others of his meeting with Myrmidion and the Priests of Helm, "They gifted me with an amulet which, while it will not cure the affliction of the Shade, should arrest its progress somewhat. They say there is a second, somewhat less pleasant treatment, which they are working upon and will be ready in the morning. They also hinted that the cure may be found within Undermountain itself..."
OOC: *I am presuming that the others have at least read the account of the castle, and that I don't need to go into too much detail...?

"Can ye use a sword, lassie?" said Cathmhaol to Maylene, "Ye'll be twice welcome if'n ye can help t' watch our backs."

<Rumbleskin>
For the briefest of moments, a look of genuine concern for the mage appeared on Rumbleskin's face before he realised how he would feel under the circumstances...
The look of concern was quickly replaced with one of resolve as he addressed Zeric: "Now lad, I know I be a little frazzled in th' thinking department, but iff'n there be anything mine axe kin solve, gimme th' nod an' 'tis done"

OOC:
I do need clarification on that, actually - if Zeric and Cath have told of all the events at the castle, more or less word for word, such that the others (Dace, Dorf etc) all now know what happened to Zeric... Well I'd like to know that. Cheers!

OOC: The events Zeric knows about, he has told as they are. The story of him and the Priests, he has told in his own words.

Cool, thanks. So basically now Dace will assume he knows everything that was said at the castle.
IC:Daring not to drink, Dace held his gaze on Zeric until he had finished his story. Finally he shoved his cup away from himself and blew out a breath he had been holding. "I geniunely don't know what to say. I owe you my life. We all do."

Zeric waved a hand, "Maybe you would have done the same were the situations reversed... And then again, maybe not..."
He sipped his wine, "It was about the survival of the group, which, coincidentally, gave me a greater chance of survival... Those shades would have killed us - and not quickly. I have hope that I shall find a cure before I am taken by this affliction. I thank you all for your concern. Dace. Rumbleskin."
He nodded in turn as he said the names.

"I honestly don't know. However, as someone who is fond of plain speaking, I shall say this. Since I joined you, it has been apparent you have little love for my company. I know not why. Let us hope it is a situation that changes."Standing from the table, he downed the rest of his drink. "I am unaccustomed to having my motives questioned." He looked at Cathmhaol. "I am either with you or not. That is for you to decide. I'm turning in, I shall see you all in the morning."Looking to his female companion, he said "I'm sure they'll sort a room for you." and turned and headed upstairs. OOC:
The tone of his voice is not aggressive, hurt or arrogant, it's very flat and plain, very matter of fact.

Zeric watched Dace depart, then leaving his own drink unfinished, he stood.
"I think I shall retire," he announced, turning. "I have an early rise to be at the Lord Nasher's Palace in the morning.... I bid you all a good night."
He ascended the stairs, seeking his room.
