The following rumours may or may not be true about Undermountain.
Undermountain is the largest mass grave in the whole of Faerun
Undermountain is controlled by a mad mage.
Undermountain contains a number of temples and shrines that could not exist in Waterdeep. Shar, Talona, Lolth, Malar and Talos are all such examples.
To enter Undermountain seek out the Yawning Portal Inn, theres a well that leads to the dungeon. The owner will lower you down.
Skullport, the city where you can buy anything is on the third level of Undermountain. Slaves, narcotics, illegal magical items, are all available.
The Lords of Waterdeep send dangerous prisoners into undermountain.
At least one dragon is known to lair in Undermountain.
On the first level notable rooms are called the hall of the sleeping kings, the halls of the three lords, the house of pain and the caverns of the eyes.
The mad mage resides at the bottom of Undermountain far below level ten.
