David found this as a way of playing RPG's in realtime across the net. www.openrpg.comIt seems an interesting idea and one Id like to test out, as an experiment. Basically I dont see it replacing the board in anyway, at least for now. But Id like to look at maybe another method of playing, one that doesn't take quite so long for a reaction. etc. Id like to run a classic D&D adventure using it, something like Tomb of Horrors or Descent into the depths of the earth with higher level characters and see how it plays. Of course if anyone has any other ideas for running an adventure Id be open to it. Basically Im open to ideas or suggestions. I understand that there may be issues with time and getting together virtually but I guess thats a problem that people have in real life tm, anyway. Also with xmas on the horizon there might be some more free time available. If this is a terrible idea, let me know and Ill can it.

Not at all. Sounds good. However, as you say the logistics might be a nightmare... Can you do voice chat with it? That might speed things up a little? I have a headphone/mic combo as does Harv and I know Phil at least used to...?

I don't think it has audio chat capabilities. But there's nothing to stop a simultaneous skype conference call, using the openrpg for maps / rolls / descriptions etc, and skype for chat.
Like you say though, getting the logistics of it all may be more trouble than it ends up being worth.

A bunch of us are currently looking into VTTs so we can play more RPGs. We already have our own server so have Teamspeak running on it (although this proved unsuccessful for Tom) for voice comms.

Sorry, Virtual Table Tops. Essentially an environment that allows for honest dice rolls, miniature movement, etc. We've tested a few but they're mostly hit and miss.

Hey! Teamspeak worked for me. It was Operation Flashpoint (GOTY Edition) that was giving the problems if you recall.

We use skype every day at work, mostly for 5 or 6 user conference calls, and find it works really pretty well.
Mind you, we all run Linux ...

I'd be interested but timing will be an issue for me. I'll have a better idea about when I'll see the kids and such like closer to the time.
