Zeric headed upstairs after Cathmhaol, stopping at the first door on the left, he pushed it open with the butt of his shortspear, standing back from the open doorway.

The door is opened by Zeric and reveals a rather neat and homley room. The two beds look made and the room is tidy and clean, well as clean as a room thats been abandoned can be. The room has a layer of dust that hasnt been disturbed in a while. A chest is at the base of each of the beds.

Dace gave the cellar a good going over before heading back upstairs. He couldn't shake the feeling he wasn't alone, but carried on with his task nonetheless.
OOC:
Paul, PM for you.

OOC: Rumbleskin would head down to the cellar from behind the bar, bagging the booze on the way...

The room has a layer of dust that hasnt been disturbed in a while. A chest is at the base of each of the beds. Zeric considered opening the chest, but thought better of it... He instead, settled for closely examining the outside, trying to determine if it was locked or trapped. There may be a clue as to their location within; a journal or such... He then stepped onto the bed, reaching over the foot of it and lifting the lid of the chest carefully. OOC: Let's say for argument's sake that it doesn't matter which, as he'll possibly open the other one. Happy for you to choose randomly, Paul.

Both chests have some bed linnen and blankets in them. Apart from that, after a good rummage, nothing else.

OOC: Whay-hay-hay!!! ;D
"Don't worry about clean sheets," said Cathmhaol sarcastically, "Let's find out if there's anyone in any o' t'other rooms."
He stepped across to the door opposite the one that Zeric had opened, twisted the handle and pushed it open.

Searching the rest of the rooms on this floor is a simple task. The six room on this floor are amost identically fitted out. With two beds comfrotably fitted out and warm looking blankets. The colour scheme of each of the rooms is a rich deep red. Each room also has a dressing table on top of which rests a slightly rusted metal jug and bowl. Obviously used for washing. The rooms have ample light from the big barred windows that take up a portion of one wall. In the final room on the right, is the exception it seems to have been used recently. A breatplate and a shield are propped up against the foot of one of the bed, which looks like its been slept in recently. Also at the foot of the bed is a light crossbow and a number of bolts (counting them totaling 40). On the table is a piece of parchment with some writing on it.

"Damn!" Zeric breathed as he read the letter, "Assume for a moment that no one would come from Neverwinter to a Godsforsaken place as this, unless it was close, yes? Then, also assuming that we're close to Neverwinter, that puts us some, I don't know, four to six hundred miles further north up the Sword Coast than Daggerford... "
He read on, "The letter makes mention of a wizard, but does not name him... Perhaps thon tower is his abode? Says the... village is called 'Melgaunt', I think - the script is somewhat indistinct..."
He scratched his head, muttering to himself, "Melgaunt...? Now why does that name have a ring of familiarity to it...?"

"There's somethin' afoot," muttered Cathmhaol. He stabbed at the note with his finger, "Whoever he was, he left his horse in t' stable. Let's go take a look an' see if they're still there".

"Aye..." Zeric mumbled distractedly, following Cathmhaol.
Halfway to the stable, Zeric exclaimed, "That's it! Melgaunt! He's a wizard, he has a tower in Neverwinter woods... He's notable due to some less-than ethical research into The Planes and the denizens of The Planes."
Zeric nodded to the tower, still following the warrior, "You reckon that might be his tower, Cath?"

You arrive at the stables and there are eight horses in the stables. Seven of the horses are brown stallions, all have had their saddles and livery removed. The livery is made of leather, well made and functional.
The eighth is a white stallion, well fed and looked after. In the stall beside it is its livery, this in comparism to the others is ornate and delicately created.
Looking over the horses the young woman, Delora, comments "The seven horses here," she poined "are standard military issue. That she pointed at the white stallion is a perfect horse. Simply Ive never seen a horse like it before. Its beautiful"

Cathmhaol laid a gentle hand on the stallion's neck. "This ain't a soldier's horse," he said, "I reckon the wizard's here..."
"We'll check out the tower in a moment, but that note said there was equipment buried here, so take a look around an' see if the floor's been disturbed..."

Zeric nodded and executed a mocking bow, "As you wish, Revered Leader..."
He used the foot of his staff to brush away loose piles of straw, but drew the line at the piles of horseshit that littered the stalls.
An idea occurred to him, "Delora! How long would you say these horse have been left alone - that is without being mucked out...?"
