Discussion of New Campaign

Right, Ive sketched out a bit of the background to the campaign which Ill be adding in over the next few weeks. I'm now looking for some character ideas and what you will be looking from the campaign.

Basically the campaign will be following the same ideas as Lizard King, this time more focused on stopping a prophecy rather than stopping the evil itself. I think that's more fitting in an Arabian style campaign, rather than a traditional D&D style campaign.

As you know there are links between all my games and there'll be a major role for the "demon/devil/god/death head"that was introduced in the Lizard King Campaign. I think having an ancient Calimshan evil in this campaign makes more sense. Ill also be adding to some of the things that both Milo and Garat had eluded to. There may be links to the Ring of Might campaigns as well. Im also open to relatives playing in the campaigns and/or any other way players can think of loosely linking them.

Im tempted to not even do character sheets this time, just at the start and players do updates on skills and feats. Everything else done by me.....

On August the 16th Im off on vacation for 2 weeks. Thats about a month or so away. Id like to go with at least character ideas floating around, so I can start when I return in September.

Im also going to get rid of the character sheets in a way. When creating the character Ill want a list of skills and feats. Ill do everything else... Means that you can focus on roleplay (not that theres never any of that), but I want to do away with rules as much as possible

I've given Paul the sketch of an idea for a character. I think it'll fit nicely with the background that's already been posted. I'm working on the skills and feats (provided that we're still going with the idea of virtually statless & systemless)

I need a name, though.... (which is always the difficult bit for me...)

which is great for assorted generators. I use it all the time, although to be honest the name is usually the easiest.

I've got a couple of character ideas and I'm in the process of trying to find time to flesh them out.

There is actually a naming convention in Calimshan. Ill hopefully pull my finger out and get it written up. Which should help with this sort of thing.

Also Tom aluded that Im going to day away with levels and character sheets and the like. Ill tell you how many skills and feats you have at the start and we make progression from there. Updates etc will on be done by what youve done on an adventure. So if you want ride, ride a horse, etc

This is another reminder of this game, Im off on holiday on the 17th. Currently Tom is the only player who has expressed an interest and has a character done (or at least a concept).

If everyone can come back to me with at least their thoughts before I leave, h that would be great....

Im going to be hard-nosed about this. Ive done a bit of prep and sketching of the direction of the campaign, so Id like to start it on the first of October or there abouts. So if you can work on your characters for then that would be good.

Phil - if you hve an idea of a character (im doing away with the sheets) let me know.
Al and Tom 2 - if your interested let me know as well.

As it is now 2 months till the end of the year. Im putting this project on hold till then, my increased responsibility at work and running 2 games is a bit much at the moment. Ill start running this once a break in either of the other 2 Realms games occur.
