Running on from the temporarily stunned Drow, Dace attempted to position himself where he could get the whole picture... And realised he wasn't carrying a light source...
Moving so as to keep with light, Dace prepared for assault, flight or defence as best he could...
OOC: Hmmm, that leads me to wonder... Sneak Attack wouldn't be any use against Drow, or other races with Darkvision (bear in mind, I'm going by the 2nd ed. definition of striking from the shadows. The only time that it wouldwork against such foes would be in bright light?
Sneak attack would mean surprise. It doesnt mean that the drow aret aware of Dace. So for example, you could have dace moving away from combat, whilst the drow are engaged with the other party members. Only to have him strike whilst otherwise occupied. I guess if its played correctly you could have a backstabbonus

OOC- Im tempted to allow you to get back to the Pool Room, uninpeded and you lost the drow due to the knowledge of the Dwarf. As the battle didnt go as well as I expected. What do you think?

OOC: Me personally, not really knowing the level of the threat, I'm happy to have Rumbleskin (and anyone else who wants some of teh fun) do a holding action just inside the turn to the pool room and persuade the drow that it may not be in their best interests to follow

The Adventurers ran along the corridor, the drow caught in the light of the spell cast by Zeric. Muffled shouts followed the adventurers as they ran through the open arch leading them to the pool room. The shouts from the drow changing, sounding like their confusion was turning into anger and annoyance. The sound of boots running along the corridor left the adventurers in no doubt that the drow were coming and it was likely that the drow were coming in for the kill and that this would be the place of a last stand.
Setting themselves up for a battle. Cathmhaol stood with his sword and shield ready, the young woman Delora was similarly standing with a shield and her axe. Aribella stood just behind the two warriors her two handed sword raised high, beside her and slightly to one side stood Zeric. The look of worry on his face was obvious to all, the reality of the moment apparent to all. Dace stood by the arch waiting to ambush any or all the drow that came through the door. Most perplexing, however, was the strange behaviour of the dwarf Rumbleskin. He was wandering around the room, looking for something.
As the drow entered the adventurers attacked them head on, a last stand. Cathmhaol parried a blow in his shield spinning round and stabbed the drow through the stomach, the elf falling to the ground dead. At the rear of the drow Dace stabbed the last of around 20 drow, through the chest with his swords, the bloodied points appearing with spurts of red blood. Zeric cast magic missile, dropping another drow, looking for some cover.
At Cathmhaol’s orders, Dace fought his way through the drow, killing one more on the way. Standing defensively with the rest of the group, as more reinforcements appeared through the arch, another 20 maybe 30 more. The adventurers were outnumbered and probably dead. Then a shout rang out from the Dwarf, who was now in the pool where he was suspended and a shimmering portal behind him. “Through Here” he shouted. Offered with the choice facing them, tone by one they went through. Until left were Cathmhaol, Bregl, Rumbleskin and Aribella.
The Paladin turned to Cathmhaol, “You have to be saved, Ive seen you in my dreams. Tyr told me you’re the one. The one that will kill him, the sword is destined to be yours.” With that she kissed the stunned mercenary. “Dream about me. Dwarf, get him through the portal. Bregl and I will hold them off, right here” She shouted with a smile. Grappling the mercenary, the dwarf tumbled through the portal.
